When was the last time you read a book that provides wisdom for life and work?
Maybe you don’t have time to read a chapter a day — how about a passage of scripture instead?
The book of Proverbs is packed full of wisdom that can help us lead more focused, disciplined, and productive lives. As a believer in Jesus Christ I find that reading the scriptures here helps build my faith — I learn something new each time I read a verse or chapter.
For example, this passage in Proverbs 12:11 teaches us to take action, and not just talk about pursuing our goals:
11 Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies have no sense.
There are 30 different verses in the book of Proverbs — one for each day of the month. If you’re looking to start your day with a nugget of wisdom then why not begin the next month of August with the first chapter? At the end of the month you’ll discover new thoughts, and start to think about your life differently.
Choose a good app like BibleGateway, YouVersion or Read Scripture to easily access and bookmark your favorite passages. In BibleGateway you can subscribe to their reading plan, which will automatically send you the next chapter day by day. If you’re more into audio then you can listen to each passage with YouVersion or go animated with Read Scripture.
Find what works for you and stick with that. I find that reading first thing in the morning helps me to get focused and motivated for the day. My daughter prefers to read at night. Other people I know will read or listen to scripture at lunch. Don’t get stuck on a specific time — do what works best for your day.
As a work-at-home professional who may also be wearing that hat of wife, husband, or parent you need all of the wisdom and guidance you can get! You are your own boss — no one else is directing you on what to do. Look up to the ultimate boss – you’re creator. By downloading the wisdom of Proverbs you will be able to better navigate both your personal life and business.
So let’s start his plan together! Let me know at the end of August how this has changed your outlook.
